Mind + Body Connection: EMDR
Jun 04, 2024Sip of the Week: I know we hear the phrase "Mind/Body Connection" a lot, but have you really stopped to think about what it means? In my conversation with Katie, she opens our eyes to the profound impact the body has in healing trauma and other mental health DX through protocols like EMDR. We also touch on not only the important connection between our own mind and body, but also the impact the connection to other bodies and energy states can have on us! You do not want to miss this talk, so watch our talk here- we dish all the tea!
Let it Brew: The mind-body connection is an essential aspect of overall well-being, and therapies like Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) provide a powerful way to harness this connection. EMDR therapy helps process traumatic memories and reduces emotional distress by using bilateral stimulation, crossing the plane between the right and left brain. The focus is often on how your body feels and integrating somatic reactions along with the memories of the traumatic event. By engaging both the mind and body, EMDR facilitates healing, promoting a more integrated and balanced state of health.
Post-Tea Pursuits: This week, I challenge you to integrate a simple mind-body practice into your daily routine. Choose an activity that combines mental focus with physical movement. Pay attention to how this activity influences your overall sense of well-being. Reflect on any changes in your mood, energy levels, and stress responses. By consciously connecting your mind and body, you'll begin to notice the profound impact this relationship has on your daily life and how much you can also impact and utilize the relationship.
